Sanctuaries of the Banished The Dark Brethren have finally revealed what they needed all those Black Powder Barrels for: archaeological excavations! Across The Devil’s Roar, lost Sanctuaries of the Banished have been unearthed, locked tight but hiding intriguing secrets – and, of course, buckets of loot. To get your hands on it, and maybe find out more about how these Ancient structures came to be, you’ll have to hunt down the keys to these Sanctuaries of the Banished and try your luck against the sentinels that still seek to protect them…   Find the Keys Even so many years after their disappearance, the Banished Ancients aren’t willing to hand over their treasures so easily. If you want to enter their Sanctuaries, you’ll need to track down a key from one of the Eternal Guard keeping it safe! Chests of Banished Tribute The excavations have unearthed more than Sanctuaries – they’ve revealed hoards of new treasures too! These high-value chests can only be found within an opened Sanctuary of the Banished, but if you can find one and bring it back safely, the Trading Companies will reward you handsomely. The Eternal Guard Has Awoken! The Banished Ancients may be gone, but their loyal Eternal Guard have risen once again to defend their Sanctuaries! Sarcophagi have started emerging across the Sea of Thieves, and pirates who dare to approach and light the candles are liable to find themselves in a battle for their lives. The Eternal Guard will fight with everything they have to protect their keys, and they have more tricks up their sleeve than you might expect from the ghostly undead. If you want to walk away with your prize, not to mention your life, you’ll need to keep your weapons close and your eyes peeled… Armed and Dangerous The Eternal Guard are no mere mindless drones; these warriors were trained for combat and even now you’ll find them a cut above your average skeleton or Phantom threat. The Guard are known to be more than proficient with hunting spears and blowpipes, so stay light on your feet! Cunning Strategists Weapons aren’t the only tricks the Eternal Guard have learned to employ. In combat, they can disappear in a burst of poison gas, before reappearing to strike from the shadows. Even in defeat they reveal one last surprise: an explosive deathblow intended to take their attacker with them! Far and Wide While the Sanctuaries of the Banished can only be found in The Devil’s Roar, their undead guardians roam further afield. Their sarcophagi can be found on any large island throughout the Sea of Thieves, so keep an eye out for telltale signs the next time you head ashore.
